Yesterday, Thanksgiving Day, it was windy, cold and rainy. Rather than being depressing, the weather enhanced the warm, secure atmosphere of a traditional turkey dinner with the community. Can’t say as much for those who played in or watched the traditional high school football games the area is noted for.

Today is supposedly the mad shopping day but that is totally invisible from my basement computer den. At least it is a cloudless 59 degree day which the shoppers  should enjoy.

The New York Times reported today that Donna Shelby of Valparaiso, IN spent Thanksgiving Day in jail for skipping out of a restaurant without paying. If Ms. Shelby has to spend a day in jail for a debt of $18.96 then Bush-Cheney and their Republican enablers in Congress should have to spend the rest of their lives in prison for stiffing the (middle to low income) taxpayers with a $480,000,000,000.00 deficit and an additional $300,000,000,000.00 “supplementary” bill for their Iraq War. This is America, land of fair play and equality under the law, is it not?

Well, the Republicans in Congress are planning to skip out on passing a budget for the current year because it is hundreds of billions in the hole and they haven’t the guts to face the debt they created. No doubt they will blame the Democrats for the mess in the not-to-distant future. Their pharmaceutical industry pals are already marshalling their forces to oppose the Democratic Party’s plan to lower the cost of Medicare drugs.

Meanwhile, Junior has appointed a National Family Planning Director who is against using condoms. Tell me the shrub is going to cooperate with the Democratic Congress (and I’ll laugh in your face).
